As If Out of Thin Air

Artist statement
As If Out of Thin Air began in a period when I had lost faith in myself, in what still felt possible ahead. The figure lies suspended between collapse and reach, her arm lifted toward something not yet visible, steadied by another hand that holds rather than rescues. Behind her, a landscape glows faintly, out of reach but not out of sight.
I was thinking about how we move from despair to hope, and that this shift rarely happens all at once. First we need to be held in gentleness, long enough to glimpse the light beyond.
I want viewers to notice that hope is not sudden salvation but a slow recognition of possibility, a small light proving the eye can see again. I want them to feel that tenderness can be structural, sturdy enough to hold weight, and that transformation can arrive quietly, as if out of thin air.
