Artist statement
Mega Fauna Nano is an abstracted sculpture which references Australian native animals. I created this work to remind us of their need for our ongoing consideration and protection. Through the language of sculpture, my intention is to show a graceful gesture of physical movement found in nature while offering the viewer something to interpret for themselves. This way the viewer becomes part of the sculpting process which creates a full circle moment, connecting the individual to the work on a personal level. As part of my process I strived to make each viewing angle reveal something different, hoping to cool the busy mind with gentle aesthetics and a weathered tactile surface to be touched if wished. Steel is the ultimate medium for me. It gives the work presence, longevity and resonance as a final form for sculpture. No AI was used in this artwork in any way. My own ideas are human to human.
